JOHANNESBURG – The African National Congress (ANC) has identified migration as one of the issues threatening peace and stability in the country.

In a peace and security discussion document, the party recommended that state arms manufacturing companies, Armscor and Denel, should be tasked with developing appropriate systems for peacekeeping, counter-terrorism, and border control.

Poor countries on state borders are often blamed for increasing the number of undocumented immigrants from neighboring countries.

Chairman of the ANC’s peace and stability sub-committee, David Mahlobo: “We need to be able to enact migration laws. We are of the opinion that whatever crime is committed, regardless of whether it is a citizen or a non-national, crime should have no eyes.
